CHURCH TRANSFORMATION
RIBA Stages 0-7
This project involved the complete strip-out of a derelict church in Southport and the introduction of new offices, mezzanine floor, gym and recording studios.
A particular challenge was the introduction of the mezzanine and new staircases (one being spiral) coordinating with the apertures of the existing building. Similarly, the introduction of high-end recording studios and sound labs required particular attention to the acoustic treatment of the spaces and impact that it may have on nearby residents.
A new palette of materials were introduced throughout the design that hark back to the traditional church vernacular whilst adding a modern interpretation.
